NORTHSTAR · SINCE 1965
ADA stalls, aisles, and signage in Northstar.
Northstar is south of Truckee on Highway 267, before the climb to Brockway Summit. Robert E. Sutton Co. works out of Truckee, licensed in California and Nevada, and ADA striping is one of the three things we do. Call (530) 587-4161.
What the work involves
Accessible stalls, striped access aisles, and the signage that goes with them, laid out to current standards. California adds requirements on top of the federal rules, and faded accessible markings stop being compliant markings.
Why it matters at this elevation
Snow country is hard on markings in a way that surprises owners who moved up from the valley. Between blade contact, sand abrasion, and the months lines spend buried, mountain striping does not last as long. Planning for that cycle is cheaper than being surprised by it.
This is higher ground, and the season shortens accordingly. Snow arrives earlier in the fall and lingers later in the spring, which compresses the window for anything that has to cure. The realistic plan at this elevation is to schedule early in the season rather than counting on a late one.
How the job runs
Layout comes before paint. We reference the existing configuration before it disappears, confirm stall dimensions and aisle widths, and place accessible spaces where they belong rather than where they happened to be. Then lines go down on clean dry pavement.
Northstar pavement specifically
Resort pavement is its own animal. Village and day lots that fill and empty in surges, service and employee areas that see the heaviest equipment, and residential drives around the perimeter. Lot striping matters more here than almost anywhere, because volume days depend on the layout working.
We work Northstar on scheduled association rounds and take individual homeowner jobs alongside them. Northstar California’s residential neighborhoods wrap the resort from the village up through the gated ridgelines — steep association roads, big paver-edged driveways, and serious plow traffic five months a year.
Markings here have to survive plow blades and months under snow, so the restripe cycle runs shorter than an owner would expect from a lot down the hill.
Northstar sits at roughly 6,330 feet, and the pavement around it behaves accordingly. More on the area on our Northstar service area page. We work the same corridor through Agate Bay, Alpine Meadows, Alpine Peaks, and the pavement guides go deeper on the physics if you want it.
Questions
Do you do ADA striping in Northstar?
Yes. Northstar is inside our regular service area out of Truckee, and ADA striping is core work for us. Call (530) 587-4161 or send a request and we will get it scoped.
Will ADA striping fix pavement that is already breaking up?
No, and we will say so plainly. Surface work protects sound pavement. If an area has failed down into the base it needs repair or replacement, which is paving work, and we do not pave. We will tell you which areas are which.
Can I see what needs doing before committing?
Yes. We walk the pavement, tell you what condition it is in, and separate what needs doing now from what can wait a season. Plenty of pavement is not ready to need us yet and we say so when that is true.
