Sealcoating and striping in Mogul, the low end of the canyon run.
Asphalt sealcoating, crack sealing, and striping for Mogul driveways and lots, from the crew that has maintained Sierra pavement since 1965. (530) 587-4161
Mogul is a residential community on the Nevada side just east of Verdi along the Interstate 80 corridor, the lowest elevation anywhere in our service area.
Down here the winter is a different animal from the one at Donner Summit. Freeze and thaw still work on the pavement, but the snow load is a fraction of what the lake communities carry and the season runs considerably longer.
Getting to Mogul from the yard
Mogul is a straight run east on Interstate 80 past Verdi. The longest drive on our list, and worth grouping with other Nevada-side work.
What Mogul pavement is up against
At roughly 4,700 feet, this is some of the lowest ground we work — a longer season, an earlier start, and a lighter snow load than the higher communities. Pavement here dries out earlier in the spring than the ridge communities do, which usually means the working season opens a few weeks sooner. That does not make it mild. It still cycles through freezing and thawing constantly on both shoulders of winter, and that cycling is what opens cracks.
Residential driveways and shared access pavement. The long season here means work can be scheduled at either end of summer rather than competing for the narrow mountain window.
Planning the work
Access shapes the schedule as much as the weather does. Vehicles have to be off the surface during the work and through the cure, so driveways get timed around when people are actually home and shared pavement gets phased so nobody is stranded. Tell us the constraints and we will build around them.
Questions we get from Mogul
Is my Mogul driveway too small to bother with?
No such thing. Driveways are a large share of what we do, and small jobs get grouped efficiently on the schedule. The only thing that makes a small job hard is calling in late in the season.
Can you look at my Mogul property before quoting?
That is how we prefer to do it. Pavement condition drives the whole scope, and a quote made without seeing the surface is a guess. We reply to requests within one business day and set up a walkthrough from there.
What should I be looking for on my Mogul pavement each spring?
Walk it after the melt. Look for cracks you can slide a card into, spots where cracks have connected into a web, areas that pond water, and edges that are crumbling. Those four things tell us most of what we need to know.
